On 1 and 2 October, the formation sessions for Sisters and lay people involved in Youth and Vocational Ministry continued. Following on from the formation held on 3 and 4 September, the aim is to provide tools to understand and engage with today’s young people, always from the charism of Hospitality.

These days are part of the renewal process the Congregation is undergoing under the theme “On the journey with young people, rekindling the flame of Hospitality.”

Accompanying young people

The first day, dedicated to the theme “Accompanying young people,” highlighted the fundamental role of the community as a space called to welcome, motivate, encourage and accompany new generations. This means understanding and valuing young people, rather than judging them or expecting perfection from them. To do so, both consecrated people and lay people need appropriate preparation that enables them to accompany young people with an attitude of commitment, listening and openness. It is also important to foster freedom and active participation in their journey of discernment.

The importance of coordinated youth ministry

The second day focused on “The importance of coordinated youth ministry.” The experience shared over time shows that youth ministry is called to be a mission lived in communion with the whole Church, moving beyond a fragmented vision limited to each Congregation. In this context, and also drawing on the testimony of a concrete experience, participants explored the model of Hospitaller Youth and Vocational Ministry in greater depth. Its mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Hospitality and accompany young people in their growth and vocational journey, offering both joy and consolation.

Among the main objectives highlighted were youth prayer, as well as youth ministry as an opportunity to get to know one another, share experiences and build strong bonds. The importance of good coordination among groups was also emphasised, encouraging young people to participate in different tasks and following up on the results. All of this is rooted in respect for the identity and pace of each person and each group.
