The Conference has been organised by the Sisters Hospitaller on behalf of the Lombardia Region, entrusting Professor Giampaolo Perna, Director of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience of Villa Saint Benedict Menni (Albese con Cassano, Como – Italy), with the event’s organisation and the scientific chairmanship, incorporated into the international framework of EXPO 2015.

This conference has been created with a purpose of discussing the future of mental health with the maximum amount of international experts in the field, in order to revitalise the central role of society and science in protecting humankind.

The conference will spread across two days, with the participation of international and national guests. It will include responses from institutions, round tables and masterclasses, which are open to all who are interested, free of charge, allowing participants to benefit from this important training opportunity.

Mental health and its protection are the essential components to ensure that each individual can develop his or her personal potential. The central theme of the EXPO 2015, “Feed the planet; energy for life”, directly expresses the actions necessary to guarantee mental well-being. Healing is essential but it is not enough; the future should be guided around using nutrition as the driving force for mental well-being, and around aspects that humankind considers across the board, from physical exercise to empowerment, from science to socio-welfare, from technological development to personalised psychiatry, etc.
