I first Africa Hospitaller Meeting. December 10

Fr. Emmanuel Typamm invited us to keep the “passion for Christ alive, passion for Benito Menni and passion for Africa”

Wednesday, December 10

Today’s work started with Sr Anabela recalling some aspects from yesterday’s work. She underlined the importance of women being aware of their role in the construction of the African society.

During the morning section, Fr. Emmanuel Typamm helped us to reflect on some challenges of religious life in Africa, which we need to take into account in our evangelization as Sisters Hospitallers.

These challenges include: lack of faith that manifests itself in a fragile identity as consecrated persons; “inculturation” without this there cannot be true evangelization; fraternity as a strong expression of consecrated life; fraternal life by itself is a great evangelizing force; closeness to the poor as an expression of a Church that is close to Christ.

After the lecture and a time of personal reflection, we had sharing by linguistic groups on three aspects that were most important to each one of us, from these three aspects each group chose those we believe are challenges in our own reality.

The afternoon session in the Assembly we shared the challenges that each group chose, once all the presentation was finished, we specify those point that we believe are necessary for our work in the future:

–         Consecration as witnesses of Christ

–         Fraternal life as evangelizing force

–         Inculturation

–         Discipline in all our doing

There was a long dialogue or discussion on inculturation, as an essential element to take into account in evangelization.

Before the end of the session, P. Emmanuel invited us to keep the “passion for Christ alive, passion for Benito Menni and passion for Africa”.
