On this day, the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus have launched a significant social media campaign to raise awareness of this crucial issue.
The campaign, composed of a series of posts with shocking facts, has as its main objective to combat the stigmas and barriers faced by people with disabilities in society. Each post carries with it a powerful message, highlighting the imperative need for inclusion and valuing diversity.
A bit of context
December 3 has been observed as World Day of Disabled Persons since 1992, designated by the United Nations General Assembly. This day seeks to promote understanding of disability-related issues, as well as to mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development.
The Message behind the Campaign
The series of publications focuses attention on key issues that often go unnoticed. From challenging misperceptions to highlighting hard data on health and accessibility, the messages convey a call to action to foster a more inclusive and hospitable world. The facts in the videos confront myths and alarming figures, reminding us of the importance of eradicating the barriers faced by people with disabilities in society.
The campaign not only seeks to raise awareness on this commemorative day, but also represents our commitment for more than 142 years of service, where science unites with humanity to provide inclusive and warm care to all, regardless of their abilities.
From Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, through this initiative, we invite everyone to reflect on the importance of inclusion and to join in building a more hospitable world, where every life is valued and every individual has the opportunity to thrive without limitations.
