Anniversary of the foundation of our Congregation, the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Today is a special day for us as we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of our Congregation, the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

142 years ago, St. Benedict Menni, the Venerable Maria Josefa Recio and Maria Angustias Gimenez founded this Congregation with the aim of caring for women with mental illness, a sector of society that was then marginalized and invisible.

Today, the Hospitaller Mission is more alive than ever in each of the 85 centers of our Congregation around the world, which help more than 820,000 people each year to embrace their suffering and find meaning in their pain.

On this day, we share with you a video to pay tribute to our founders, who dedicated their lives to the service of the sick and the most needy, following the example of Jesus the Good Samaritan, and who are a beacon on our daily journey in the practice of Hospitality.

May our Mother, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, First Hospitaller, whose feast we also celebrate today, guide and protect us always.
