Canonical Constitution of the Vice-Province of Vietnam

On a day full of significance, August 22, the feast of St. Mary Queen, a transcendental event in the history of the Congregation took place. With the presence of Sr. Anabela Carneiro, Superior General, the Vice-Province of Vietnam was canonically constituted, an achievement that marks a new chapter in the Hospitaller mission.

Sister Anabela Carneiro, who presided over the ceremony, shared her gratitude for this milestone, with St. Joseph being designated as the protector of the new Vice-Province. Anabela expressed: “To him (St. Joseph) we entrust this congregational structure in its new juridical-canonical condition, and we ask him for all the sisters, children and other recipients of the mission, relatives and benefactors, a special blessing and our prayer that this step will be the confirmation that we are one congregational body, united by the hospitaller charism and mission and urged by the needs of the people who suffer and await our care, wherever they may be”.

The creation of this Vice-Province is governed by our legislation, which establishes that a Vice-Province can be constituted wherever the necessary conditions for an autonomous life exist. In a process that has been accompanied especially by the Province of Spain, it has been possible to give shape to this historic event that consolidates and grows the Hospitaller mission in Vietnam.

Léontine Ngo Mbock, General Councilor, and representatives of the Province of Spain (of which until now the Hospitaller presence in Vietnam was a part): Sr. Matilde Porras, Provincial Superior of Spain and Sr.

The Government of the newly established Vice-Province is composed of the same Sisters who previously formed part of the Government of the Delegation of Vietnam, reflecting continuity in the process. This committed and dedicated team will be instrumental in the direction and administration of the Vice-Province. The Sisters who make up the Government are:

  • Sor Teresa Nguyen Thi Kim Anh: Superiora Viceprovincial.
  • Sor Maria Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu: Vicaria y 1ª Consejera.
  • Sor Maria Nguyen Thi Vui: 2ª Consejera.
  • Sor Anna Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh: Ecónoma.
  • Sor Maria Nguyen Thi Thuy Phuong: Secretaria.

This achievement is the result of a sustained effort and a shared vision of extending hospital values and care to those who need it most. The Vice-Province of Vietnam stands as a beacon of hope and care in a world in need of solidarity and compassion. With St. Joseph as its protector and guide, this new congregational entity embarks on a vital mission to alleviate suffering and provide care to those, wherever they may be.
