This day and week began with the Chapter still in the election phase. At the beginning of the morning plenary session the Prior General addressed the Chapter and outlined his basic plan for the governance and animation of the Order in the coming six years.

As provided for by article 125a of the Order´s General Statutes, the Prior General proposed to be elected. The Chapter approved that four General Councillors be elected and heard the names of the Brothers whom the Prior General felt would be suitable colleagues in his governance and animation of the Order. The Chapter then went into languages groups which discussed the information given by the Prior General who gave answers to questions and further explanation of his plans for the way in which the General Government would operate in the future.

Then the Chapter reconvened and, taking into account the orientations given previously by the Prior General, elected the following brothers as General Councillors (in this order) Brother Rudolf Knopp, Brother Giampietro Luzzato, Brother Benigno Ramos and Brother Pascal Ahodegnon.

The election phase completed, in the afternoon the language groups met again to begin preparing proposals for the consideration of the Chapter.
