{"id":65916,"date":"2021-02-11T08:40:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-11T08:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/en\/?p=51740"},"modified":"2021-02-11T08:40:00","modified_gmt":"2021-02-11T08:40:00","slug":"message-from-anabela-carneiro-29th-world-day-of-the-sick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hospitalarias.org\/en\/message-from-anabela-carneiro-29th-world-day-of-the-sick\/","title":{"rendered":"Message from Anabela Carneiro, 29th World Day of the Sick"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Celebration of the 29th World Day of the Sick<\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cCARE FOR ONE ANOTHER\u201d&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Message to the whole HOSPITALLER COMMUNITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we celebrate the<em> World\nDay of the Sick<\/em>, I am happy to address all of you as the members of the Hospitaller\nCommunity: patients, co-workers, relatives, volunteers, benefactors, friends\nand sisters, with a greeting of Peace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nhis message for this Day, Pope Francis has entrusted to <em>&#8220;Mary, Mother\nof Mercy and Health of the Sick, all those who are ill, <\/em><em>healthcare workers and\nall those who generously assist our suffering brothers and sisters<\/em><em>.\nMay she [&#8230;] sustain our faith and hope and help us <strong>care for one another <\/strong>with\nf<\/em><em>raternal love\u201d<\/em><a href=\"\/#_edn1\"><em><strong>[i]<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have chosen this text &#8211; CARE\nFOR ONE ANOTHER &#8211; to illuminate this message, thinking of the countless ways we\ncare for one another in the daily life of our hospitaller community where we\nare all involved on the front line: &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We care for one another when we commit\nourselves to joyfully serving others and when we overcome weariness and give\nthe best of ourselves; <\/li><li>We care for one another when, with a word or a\nsmile, we give thanks for the many acts of kindness and support we receive\nevery day; <\/li><li>We care for one another when, concealed behind\nprotective equipment or face masks, we treat people tenderly, and make them\nfeel safe and confident; <\/li><li>We care for one another when we appreciate\nwords conveying hope, recognising a brother or sister in others, and a helping\nhand that lifts us up, and gives us courage; <\/li><li>We care for one another when we do not remain\nindifferent to the needs of others, especially when they do not acknowledge\nthem or do not know how to express them; <\/li><li>We care for one another when we listen to more\nthan mere words, and give a hug that makes the other person feel protected and\nat home; <\/li><li>We care for one another when we experience\nempathy and compassion, when we allow ourselves to be affected by the\nsufferings of others and commit ourselves to serving them; <\/li><li>We care for one\nanother when we call each other by name, when we know how to give our time to\naccompany each other at any moment; <\/li><li>We care for one another when&#8230; (I invite you\nto complete the list&#8230;).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>With the pandemic at its height, it is my hope that by celebrating this Day, we shall be able to discover within ourselves our ability to care, and our need to be cared for.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I entrust this celebration to\nthe special intercession of our Founder, St Benito Menni, and I send you all my\ncordial best wishes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/organizacion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Anabela Carneiro (se abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\">Anabela Carneiro<\/a>, Superior General \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rome, 11 February 2021\n<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/#_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.libreriaeditricevaticana.va\/en\/encyclical-letters\/531-fratelli-tutti.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" POPE FRANCIS, Message for the XXIX world day of the sick, Rome 20\/12\/2020.
