1st<\/sup> interprovincial Course in Spain on the Identity Project of the Institution. The Hospitaller Commission of Spain progresses towards the creation of the unique province.<\/p>\n

The directors of the three canonical provinces of Spain received training in the Identity Project. Two editions of the same training activity were organised in Barcelona, the first one from 14 to 16 October and the second one from 21 to 23 October. 144 persons participated in the event, including practically 100% of the sisters and collaborators from the Management Board of the centres and the provincial management teams.<\/p>\n

The course was promoted by the Hospitaller Commission of Spain and organised by the Identity Project Training Group in response to Line 1 of Path 4 of General Chapter XX. This year, 2013, the training was focused on the Charisma and its sources and foundational criteria and will be continued over the next two years.<\/p>\n

This event offered the different persons involved in leading the Hospitaller Mission the chance to reflect on certain fundamental aspects of the Institutional identity included in the Identity Project, and meet each other, strengthen ties and thereby facilitate the reorganisation and revitalisation process already under way.<\/p>\n

During the event, Sister Ester Berruete, General Superior, explained the origin of the Congregation in the historical framework of the period; then Sister Conchita Ochotorena gave a talk entitled “El n\u00facleo fundante: Benito Menni, Mar\u00eda Josefa Recio y Mar\u00eda Angustias Gim\u00e9nez”; Professor Francesc Torralba gave an explanation about Christian humanism; Mons. Joan-Enric Vives, Bishop of Seu d\u00b4Urgell, spoke about the Hospitaller Mission and its fundamental principles; Dr. Manuel Mart\u00edn reviewed the subject of nineteenth century psychiatry and the important role played by Benedict Menni; Dr. Pedro Roy and Mrs. Inmaculada Garrido explained the assistance and educational model of the Sisters Hospitallers in Spain and Mr. Donaciano Mart\u00ednez ended with an analysis of our values.<\/p>\n

In addition two dynamic sessions were organised led by Mrs. Fuencisla de Santos, Dr. Joan Orrit and D. Alejandro Florit, one about the letters of Benedict Menni for the purpose of providing information about his qualities of leadership and another related to a case of leadership in which values were compromised.<\/p>\n

The Hospitaller Commission in Spain took the opportunity to inform the participants about the main events occurring since the start of the project and the objectives to be implemented in 2014.<\/p>\n

The participants were of the opinion that the training was extremely helpful and that it had allowed them to learn more about the core of our Institution and thereby continue the Hospitaller Work as a task carried out jointly by sisters and collaborators, by uniting science and charity.<\/p>\n
