Jo\u00e3o de Deus Psychiatry Congress<em>, <\/em>promoted by the Institute of the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Portuguese S. Jo\u00e3o de Deus Institute,&nbsp;<!--more-->took place on 23, 24 and 25 February 2012 at the facilities of Lisbon\u2019s Catholic University. Its theme was <em>Quality in mental health<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event was attended by some 380 people, including a number of technical experts from medical centres. 170 sisters and co-workers attended from our centres, and 95 brothers and co-workers attended from centres of the Brothers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We would particularly like to mention and express our thanks for the contributions from a number of the Spanish provinces: The Barcelona province sent two speakers, Dr. Edith Pomarol and Dr. Manuel S\u00e1nchez, who presented conferences on \u201cRecent advances in neuroimaging of schizophrenia\u201d and \u201cDay care in psychogeriatrics\u201d, respectively; and the provinces of Madrid and Palencia sent two technical experts, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Quemada and Dr. Marcos R\u00edos, who organised and presented the \u201cModels of neuropsychological intervention and rehabilitation\u201d symposium, and five Sisters who also participated in the event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Herc\u00edlio Oliveira came from even further afield, the Vice Province of Brazil, to give a conference entitled \u201cDrug addiction and psychosis\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As well as the various speakers already mentioned, a number of lecturers also attended, including Jos\u00e9 Luis Ayuso from Madrid, &nbsp;Professor Brian Leonard from Dublin and Professor German Berrios from London.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Various professors from the Psychiatry and Mental Health departments of Portugal\u2019s Medical Universities also attended, accompanied by other members of their teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The XI S.
