{"id":51583,"date":"2020-10-30T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-30T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/en\/?p=51583"},"modified":"2020-10-30T07:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T07:00:00","slug":"137th-anniversary-life-and-hospital-legacy-of-maria-josefa-recio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hospitalarias.org\/en\/137th-anniversary-life-and-hospital-legacy-of-maria-josefa-recio\/","title":{"rendered":"L\u200bife and hospital legacy of Mar\u00eda Josefa Recio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>October <strong>30 is the anniversary of the life and hospital legacy of Mar\u00eda Josefa Recio Mart\u00edn<\/strong>, founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Sister Hospitallers (se abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\">Sister Hospitallers<\/a> of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year marks the <strong>137th anniversary of this day<\/strong>, and the entire Hospital Community joined in this celebration, remembering their enormous work and dedication to the Institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>His life was short but fruitful and his example continues to be a light that shines in the sky of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/en\/hospitaller-values\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Hospitality (se abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\">Hospitality<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Venerable Maria Josefa Recio <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>She was born in Granada (Spain) on March 19, 1846. Family\nupbringing and her history of Christian solidarity transformed her into a model\nfor a young man and a wife (she married and was widowed at 33 years of age).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1871 he lived a deep human and spiritual friendship\nwith M\u00aa Angustias Gim\u00e9nez Vera. With her, he left Granada in the direction of\nCiempozuelos (Madrid) where they arrived on June 21, 1880, to carry out, under\nthe instructions of Father Menni, the foundation of the Congregation that took\nplace in Ciempozuelos, on May 31, 1881.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>She was the first Superior General of the Congregation and died a victim of her heroic charity,<\/strong> as a result of the blows received by a mentally ill woman on October 30, 1883.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His spiritual legacy is condensed in his Testament and in\nthe example of his life that remains alive in the Congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On May 10, 2012, Benedict XVI <\/strong>signed the decree recognizing that MAR\u00cdA JOSEFA RECIO MART\u00cdN, Founder of the Congregation of the Hospitaller Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, lived the Christian virtues to a heroic degree, <strong>declaring her VENERABLE.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about our founder, Mar\u00eda Josefa Recio: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Presentacion-Maria-Josefa-v1.ppsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Presentation (se abre en una nueva pesta\u00f1a)\">Presentation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 30 is the anniversary of the life and hospital legacy of Mar\u00eda Josefa Recio Mart\u00edn, founder of the Sister Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
