Brother Jesús Etayo Arrondo has been elected as the new Provincial Superior of San Juan de Dios Spain, succeeding Brother Amador Fernández in this role.

This appointment took place during the II Provincial Chapter of the Order, held under the motto “Expanding Hospitality in a Changing World.” After five days of work, the Chapter concluded with the formation of the new provincial governing team — known as the Provincial Definitory — which will lead the Province for the next four years.

In addition to Brother Jesús Etayo, five new Councillors have been appointed: Brother Benigno Ramos Rodríguez (First Councillor), Brother José Antonio Soria Craus (Second Councillor), Brother Juan José Ávila Ortega (Third Councillor), Brother Isidoro de Santiago Sánchez (Fourth Councillor), and Brother Eduardo Ribes Argente (Fifth Councillor).

The Provincial Government, the highest governing body of San Juan de Dios Spain, is responsible for guiding the mission and implementing the strategic lines for the future within its territorial scope.

On behalf of our Superior General, Sister Idilia Carneiro, the General Government of the Hospitaller Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus extends its most sincere congratulations to the new Provincial Superior and to the Councillors who will accompany him in this new stage of service and leadership.

The Hospitaller Sisters and the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God share the same charismatic roots in Hospitality. Our founder, Saint Benito Menni, who restored the Order of Saint John of God in Spain in the 19th century, embraced the charism of Hospitality inspired by Saint John of God and expressed it through the foundation of our Congregation. This shared heritage unites us in a common passion for the integral care of the person, especially those living in situations of greater vulnerability.

Faithful to this shared tradition and to a common evangelizing purpose, we continue to walk together to offer committed, ethical, and humanizing responses to the social and healthcare challenges of our time, upholding the hope and dignity of every person through the Hospitality that defines us.
