On the Path to Renewal: Canonical Visit to the Delegation for England in Europe and Africa

On March 26, in Addlestone, England—where 17 sisters were present—and in Dompoase, Ghana—where a smaller group of four sisters gathered—the canonical visit to the England Delegation began, covering the two continents where the Delegation maintains a presence in terms of life and hospitaller mission.

The icon of the Heart of Jesus presides over our celebrations and our visit. We begin a pilgrimage from the Heart of Jesus to the heart of each one of us and of the community. We entrust to God our willingness to welcome His light during these days.

From the 26th, when we began, until today, we have spent time meeting and reflecting with the sisters on specific topics and other issues that have arisen, centered on the theme of the visit: “On the Path to Revitalization: Returning to the Heart.” We have also been getting to know the reality of the centers, the staff, and the residents, and have held meetings with various groups.

We have had the opportunity to share in the daily Eucharist with the sisters, staff, and patients or residents, depending on the location. Palm Sunday, in particular, was a lively, vibrant celebration—accompanied by a choir in Africa, and here in Addlestone, by audiovisual aids that also allowed us to enjoy the singing and the celebration.

This is how they share their experience in Africa with us, in Foso:

Yesterday we attended Mass at the Foso Center, presided over by the Vicar of the Diocese, whom we had the opportunity to greet. It was a beautiful and deeply moving Mass, with its own unique rhythm and a wonderful choir. We are experiencing a time of grace, being able to encounter this reality of Africa—with all its challenges—as a gift.

We continue to entrust the canonical visit to the Delegation of England, on both continents, to the Heart of God.
