New meeting of the Hospital Commission in Africa (CHAF)

In order to continue the restructuring process in Africa, the new Hospital Commission in Africa (CHAF) has met.

Formed by the sisters María Begoña Pérez, general counsel, Marie Elisabeth Ngo Mbouck, Mary Reine Aleki, Emilie Bayecula and Anastasia Acquaye. This meeting took place in Elmina (Ghana) from December 27 to 31, 2019. Sr. Anabela Carneiro, Superior General, accompanied the Commission during the working days and Fr. Basile Aka, of the Congregation of D. Orione, oriented the reflection during days 28 and 29.

The basis of this work has been the path previously carried out and, above all, the contributions of the provincial communities and Superiors. The interest of all the sisters in actively participating in the process was stressed. Based on the suggestions, the lighting received and the discernment of the Commission, a first design of the restructuring project was prepared and will be studied by the General Government and the Provincial Superiors whose provinces have a presence in Africa.

Taking advantage of this occasion, the Superior General, accompanied by Sr. Maria Begoña, visited the communities of Assin Fosu and Dompoase, in Ghana, and that of Monrovia, in Liberia. Coinciding with the Christmas and New Year holidays, several fraternal meetings were held to share the life and mission of the sisters and visit the Centers. The Superior General thanked the sisters and staff for their work in favor of the sick and needy.
