Celebration of the II Provincial Chapter of Latin America

From 9 to 17 October 2024, the Latin American Province of the Sisters Hospitallers experienced a moment of profound reflection and renewal with the holding of its 2nd Provincial Chapter in Montevideo, Uruguay. This event brought together sisters and collaborators from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay, united by the desire to discern and outline the lines of action that will guide the next six years (2024-2030) under the motto: ‘Clothe yourselves with bowels of mercy’. This motto reflects our unwavering commitment to respond with boldness and compassion to the challenges of psychological suffering in today’s world.

Inspired by the spirit of renewal of the XXII General Chapter, this II Provincial Chapter was not only an opportunity for decision-making, but also for strengthening our mission of hospitality and service to the most vulnerable. Throughout these days, key issues for the future of the province were discussed and commitments to our mission were renewed.

New Provincial Government

On 16 October, a new provincial government was elected to lead the Province of Latin America for the next six years. This new government is confirmed by:

  • Provincial Superior: Sr. Ernestina del Carmen Aros Alegría.
  • Vicaress and 1st Councillor: Sr. Gricelda del Carmen González Quintana
  • 2nd Councillor: Sr. Angélica Cleofé Flores García
  • 3rd Councillor: Sister Ana Lucía Castro Villarreal

With gratitude, we recognise the importance of this Provincial Chapter as a space for spiritual and organisational renewal. We invite all to unite in prayer for the fruits of this meeting, asking the Lord to guide and strengthen us in this new journey of hospitality that we have begun together.
