We took the opportunity, to thank you all for the closeness and communion shown by your messages from the different parts where the Congregation located.

Monday, december 15

Today Monday 15, last day of our meeting, we went to Takoradi to see the center ran by the Congregation, this consists of a mental health day Centre, Out Patient Department, Reproductive and Child Health and Maternity Unit.

The Sisters explained how the Health Centre operates to us; emphasizing on how the people with mental health problems are attended to in the Centre to help reduce stigma suffered by these patients. We also had experience of the care provided for children and mothers.

After the visit at the Centre, we went to the Sister’s house where we enjoyed a pleasant moment of fraternal sharing.

After that we returned to Elmina where we visited the Castle Fort George, this Castel has a long and sad history of the slave trade. It is precisely in this place Elmina where the first Catholic Church in Africa was built.

In the afternoon we resumed our work, reflecting on the different suggestions that the sisters had sent to be studied in this meeting, we worked in groups giving priority to those which require further reflection and study.

2Then, the sisters have expressed our opinion about meeting; the following were stressed communion, freedom to express ourselves, richness of the different realities, the desire to work together so the charism in Africa would grow and the lamp of the hospitality kept alight in this continent. We expressed our gratitude to the General government for this initiative as well as the hospitality shown to us by the Province of England in Ghana.

Sr. Anabela, addressed a few words to close this meeting inviting us to be women of passion for Christ, construct fraternal community and be compassionate women, as challenges to keep alight the lamp of hospitality in Africa.

We took the opportunity, to thank you all for the closeness and communion shown by your messages from the different parts where the Congregation located.
