Friday, december 12

Today 12th December, we went to visit the centers of Dompoase and Foso. Due to the long distance we left Elmina at 6.30 in the morning.

On our arrival in Dompoase the Sisters were waiting for us with joy; the children and young adults from Mental Health Day Centre, welcomed us. Then Sister Florence, the Superior together with the medical director, Dr. Henry Dzackah, took us round the various Units under the Health Centre, the Maternity, the nutrimix production Department (supplementary food for malnourished children) and the water production department. Before leaving Dompoase, we were entertained with a traditional dance by the children; almost all the visitors took part.

After our visit to Dompoase, we headed toward Foso, where the Congregation has a general hospital. Upon our arrival the sisters, the Medical Director and the Chaplain welcomed us we were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

We celebrated the Eucharist in the chapel of the hospital, and we would like to thank the choir that animated the liturgy with their songs.

After lunch Dr Sakyi Appiah, Medical Director, presented hospital and its work as well as the challenges encountered in carrying out the mission. Then we visited the premises of the hospital and we were so impressed of the work being done.

We returned to Elmina grateful for all we shared throughout the day.
