Hospitality in Action: Comprehensive Care Project for the Elderly

At the Mental Hospital Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro in the city of Pasto, we are implementing the “Mercy that Accompanies” project—an initiative born from our commitment to provide comprehensive, humane, and respectful care to the elderly we serve.

This project aims to create therapeutic and emotional spaces that dignify the aging process, fostering active listening, emotional support, and continuous accompaniment.

Through an interdisciplinary team, we ensure not only specialized clinical care, but also a close and compassionate presence that honors the value of every life story.

As part of the World Day for Grandparents, we renew our call to society: accompanying our elders is an act of love and justice.
Because caring with mercy is an essential part of our hospital identity.

About the Mental Hospital Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro

Since 1949, the Mental Hospital Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, located in San Juan de Pasto, has been a pillar of mental health care in Latin America. Founded by the Sisters Hospitallers, it was the first in the region to offer specialized and compassionate care to those most in need, especially people with mental illness, disabilities, and other vulnerable conditions.

Faithful to its mission, the hospital provides comprehensive care grounded in human dignity, without distinction of race, culture, or social status. With a highly trained and dedicated team, its focus goes beyond clinical recovery to include emotional and spiritual support for each patient. Its humanist-Christian approach inspires a person-centered service that responds to today’s challenges with quality, warmth, and a strong commitment to social justice and sustainable development.
