This visit, carried out in deep communion with the entire Congregation, is part of the process of Revitalization that we are experiencing in the light of our 22nd General Chapter. It is not merely a formal procedure, but a true time of grace that invites us to look towards the future with courage and hope.
Returning to the Heart to Rekindle the Charism
Inspired by the motto “On the Path of Revitalization, Returning to the Heart”, the main purpose of this Canonical Visit is to rekindle in each Sister fidelity to the charism and the spirit of our Founders. Returning to the heart means rediscovering the source of our vocation, strengthening the bonds of fraternal communion that unite us as “one body”, and encouraging our apostolic service so that we may continue to respond, with compassionate hearts, to the challenges of today.
It is a fundamental experience that enables the General Government team to gain a close insight into the vibrant life and mission of each of our presences in this Asian country, sharing in their day-to-day reality.
Our Mission in Cebu: San José and Kasambagan
From 12 to 26 July, when we began this visit, we had the grace of accompanying the communities and centres in Cebu, at our two locations: San José and Kasambagan.
During these days, we shared invaluable moments of encounter, dialogue and reflection with the Sisters. We also had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the reality of the centres and the dedication of our staff, who play a vital role in our shared mission.
Both centres are a living testimony to the hospitality charity, providing comprehensive care to people with mental health conditions and disabilities. In every patient we care for, we renew our commitment to always combining the best science with the greatest humanity, upholding their dignity and offering an environment of liberating welcome.
Signs of a Samaritan Church
The Hospitaller vocation fully immerses us in the healing mission of the Church. Therefore, as a sign of ecclesial communion, during our stay in Cebu we also had the valuable opportunity to visit the Archbishop of the local Archdiocese, Most Rev. Alberto Sy Uy. This encounter confirms us in our service to the local Church and encourages us to continue building networks of support for the most vulnerable. Let us accompany Sisters M. Begoña, M. Carmen and Soshy James with our prayers as they continue this journey, asking the Lord that this Canonical Visit may continue to bear abundant fruits of renewal, fraternity and compassionate dedication.
