During the month of July, several Hospitaller Sisters visited communities in Mozambique and Malawi to accompany young women interested in gaining a deeper understanding of consecrated life and the Hospitaller mission.

In Angónia, in the Tete Province district in western Mozambique, Sister Martine Ngo Mahend met with a group of young women who wish to discern and deepen their vocational concerns. Some of them are completing their studies, while Alcinda is preparing to begin a Hospitaller experience that will allow her to become closer to the life and mission of the Congregation.

This work of accompaniment continued in Malawi, a country located in southeastern Africa, where Sisters Martine Ngo Mahend, from the Province of Portugal, and Cecilia Eshum, from the England Delegation, visited several young women and their families.

The purpose of the journey was to spend time with them, listen to their concerns, and introduce them to the charism and mission of the Hospitaller Sisters. Upon their arrival on 21 July, the Sisters were welcomed by the Brothers of Saint John of God.

The following day, they celebrated the Eucharist together and remembered Saint Benedict Menni. They also reaffirmed their commitment to introducing young people to Jesus the Good Samaritan and to sharing with them the spirit of hospitality.

On 24 July, the Sisters continued their journey to Mzuzu, the third most populous city in Malawi. There, they greeted the Bishop of the Diocese and experienced the warm welcome of the local community, as well as the enthusiasm of several young women who feel God’s call and wish to respond with generosity.

Hospitaller youth vocational ministry is a mission that involves the entire Congregation and encourages the search for new ways of being close to young people, accompanying them in their personal and vocational journeys through listening, closeness and hospitality.

The Hospitaller Sisters thus continue their journey alongside these young women, keeping alive within them the flame of hospitality.
