World Mental Health Day, celebrated every October 10, is a key date to reflect on the importance of mental health in our lives and in our society. In a world where 1 in 4 people face a mental health problem at some point in their lives, the need for action is indisputable and urgent.

The History of the Sisters Hospitallers: 143 Years of Commitment

For 143 years, the Sisters  çHospitallers have been at the service of people suffering from mental health problems, offering much more than professional medical care: we provide a home, a place of welcome where each person is listened to, understood and supported with love and mercy. Our charism of hospitality drives us to accompany those most in need, alleviating their suffering in the image of Jesus, the Good Samaritan.

This commitment is reflected in our daily work, where we help more than 820,000 people around the world each year to navigate their illnesses, facing the challenges of mental health with resilience. For us, mental health is not only a matter of wellness, but also a call to evangelization through hospitality, following the example of our founder, St. Benedict Menni.

This year, in the framework of World Mental Health Day, we want to share with you the stories of eight protagonists who have found in our hospital family the professional help and human quality to overcome their challenges. These people are a living testimony that a better life is possible.

These stories not only inspire us, but also remind us of the importance of our mission and the need to continue working to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health problems.
