In 2020, the Commission for Hospitallers in Africa (CHAF) has continued to work despite the difficulties that the COVID situation has caused at all levels.

After several meetings of the commission and with the provincial governments that have a presence on the African continent and the General Government, a 2020-2025 work plan has been drawn up. This plan has taken into account the contributions of all communities in Africa as well as African sisters in Europe and provincial governments.

The document collects the intuitions and needs expressed in the different instances, at the same time that it presents two concrete proposals of possible legal entities for the reorganization of the presences of the Congregation of Hospitaller Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the African countries.

It aims to give answers to the priorities expressed by the sisters:

  • Training at all levels, taking care of the different stages of hospital life.
  • Quality of fraternal life, drinking from charismatic sources, and witnessing the happiness that arises from giving to God in the service of the brothers.
  • Hospital works and economy, developing the hospital mission in response to new needs, seeking ways for the sustainability and viability of the Works.

This plan has been presented to all the Sisters Hospitallers of Africa, after a work of greater knowledge and familiarization, the program has been delivered for 2021.

It is expected to be an element that promotes a path of revitalization of our being as consecrated Hospitallers, to grow in communion, and to embody the mission as an expression of our identity as instruments of mercy.
