International Women’s Day 2021

On March 8 we celebrate International Women’s Day, a day to demand equality, participation and empowerment of women in all areas of society.

From Sisters Hospitallers this year, 2021, we join this celebration echoing the slogan chosen by ONU Women: “Women leaders: For an equal future in the world of Covid-19”

Women leaders like our founders, María Josefa Recio and María Angustias Giménez, who are the feminine face of Hospitality; committed from faith to the merciful liberation of women. Noted for their independence and courage overcoming, together with San Benito Menni, particularly difficult beginnings.

Currently his legacy is still valid in our Institution, thanks to the dedication and dedication of many sisters, collaborators, volunteers … who work daily in the reception, assistance, care and comprehensive rehabilitation of the most vulnerable people. Women who are on the front line of the Covid-19 crisis as health workers, demonstrating their skills and knowledge to effectively lead response and recovery efforts in the face of this pandemic.

We have a lot to thank all the women who are part of Sisters Hospitallers, how proud to be able to count on them!

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, new obstacles have emerged in addition to those of a social and systemic nature that persisted before and that hold back the participation and leadership of women. Around the world, women face an increase in domestic violence, unpaid caregiving, unemployment and poverty.

We also celebrate the solemnity of Saint John of God

On March 8 we also celebrate the solemnity of Saint John of God; whose life and mission was the origin of the Hospital Work, in the s. XVI. A great defender of the dignity and rights of women, he was actively committed to the personal and social integration of the most marginalized women of the moment.
