22nd Plenary Meeting

The Sisters Hospitallers held their 22nd Plenary Meeting at Casa de Saùde de Idanha (Lisbon-Portugal) from 18-25 February.

On 18 February the 22nd Plenary Meeting was held for the first time in Idanha, Portugal, where a warm welcome awaited the sisters.

25 sisters attended this Meeting from four continents (Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia) and the motto was: Recreating Hospitality in Restructuring Processes.  Which type of Governance?

The objectives of the meeting were:

  1. To continue analysing our style of animation and governance in the restructuring process.
  2. To study the formation processes, particularly during the initial stages of formation.
  3. To clarify certain legal aspects based on Canon Law and our Own Law.
  4. To reach an agreement for an economic contribution to the Congregation from the provinces.

The 22nd Plenary Meeting was initiated with a greeting by Sister Anabela Carneiro, Superior General.  This was followed by work on themes related to the initial formation of the sisters: the fifth juniorate year: formators and formation centres in the Congregation by the Vicar-General Sister Asunción Riopedre.
